We are chuffed and very happy to play at the "Festival Rencontres Internationales de Luthiers et Maîtres Sonneurs" this year! The festival is known as "St.Chartier Festival" to many people, although it is relocated to Château d'Ars now. It has been one of the festivals that Gudrun and Juergen have attended many times as visitors because its atmosphere is unique and Central France is a lovely place. To play on the main stage on the Friday night is a dream come true, and especially for Gudrun who saw some of her first big folk acts there when she was just 16, it is coming 'full circle'! We will make sure to celebrate this - be part of it, it's worth the journey!

Dear Friends of CARA
we are celebrating our tenth anniversary in 2013! In January 2003 the trio Florian King / Gudrun Walther / Jürgen Treyz turned into a quartet and was renamed "CARA". Sandra Steinort, still called Gunkel at this stage, was our new band member providing vocals, flute and piano.
In March Florian decided to leave the band for family reasons. During a barbeque in Gudrun and Jürgen's garden, we discussed what it would be like if Claus joined the band, replacing Florian. Claus was a bit sceptical because of the two flutes, but eventually gave in...and the sound of the two flutes became a crucial part of the CARA sound in these early years. 
In July 2003 we had our first gig, and later in the year, our good friend Rolf Wagels called in for our gig in Bielefeld. Since he had brought his bodhran, we invited him up for the gig..and he stayed in the band ever since.

This was the short and sweet story of how Cara was formed. Since the founding of the band was done in stages, we decided to celebrate in stages as well during the year - We have a few specials for you and it would be great if you would join us for the celebrations:

March
We kick off the birthday celebrations together with our friends BEOGA on March 21st, 22nd and 23rd in Puchheim, Waiblingen and Koblenz.
BEOGA turn ten as well, together we are 20 - almost 21! - and we worked a joined show and arrangements for both bands. We know the BEOGA gang for years, played the same festivals in the US, met on tour, spent off days together and surely played many sessions. What will it sound like? Surprise yourself at one of the shows....

July
In July it's celebration time again with BEOGA at "Folk am Neckar", the festival that follows the footsteps of the legendary "Folk im Schlosshof" festival. Date: 19.7.2013!

August
August holds two special gigs in store:  CARA featuring the original line up with Sandra and Claus! A rare occassion to see CARA 1.0 live, in fact it might be the only one until our 15th... so let's meet at:

October
We saved the highlight for October: we invite everybody to the beautiful city of Esslingen, well worth a visit, to join us on the  26th of October in our home venue, Kulturzentrum Dieselstrasse (all new and shiny now!) to celebrate the ultimate CARA party with special guests: Claus and Sandra will be there of course, but also two Irish guest musicians that played on tour with us over the last decade, Tola Custy (Calico, Guidewires, Lúnasa, Alan Kelly Gang...) and Patricia Clark will fly in to celebrate a night with the Greatest Hits from a decade of CARA.

At this stage, our new CD will also be released and we are in the middle of our CD release tour in autumn (all dates on the website).
